Phoenix Gold Speaker

April 19, 2017 By admin

Holmdel Phoenix Gold speakerAre you interested in a Phoenix Gold speaker? Phoenix Gold speaker models are well known and well made products that also have some more reasonable price options. Choosing the perfect Phoenix Gold speaker model for your audio system means you’ve got some research and thinking to do. Your first step will be deciding on whether to go with component or full range speakers. There are also some main factors to consider to help you pick the best Phoenix Gold speaker for your needs.

Phoenix Gold Speaker Shopping

  • Phoenix Gold Car Speaker Size and Configuration: Before you start shopping for new Phoenix speaker models, you must know the specs about the speakers already in your vehicle. If you’re definitely replacing them, then you can just remove the speakers and measure them. If not, most stores that sell speakers will be able to look up the specifications for you. If you provide the make, model, and year of your vehicle, they can usually also look up the size and configuration of the existing speakers.
  • Car Speaker Power Handling: You’ll need to look at power handling next. If you want to get the most out of your sound system, your Phoenix Gold speaker choice will need to be able to handle the power that your head unit or external amp is capable of putting out, which is why many people choose an amp unit before looking at speakers. If you haven’t yet chosen a new head unit, then you have a little more freedom. You’re free to choose a Phoenix Gold speaker with any power handling characteristics you’d like, and you can then look for a head unit or external amp that will be able to take full advantage of them. Power handling is level of power (in watts) that you can pump through the Phoenix Gold speakers. You’ll want to pay close attention to the maximum RMS (root-mean-square) power handling of the speakers instead of the peak RMS power handling.
  • Car Speaker Sensitivity:  To find out the best level of sensitivity to look for, you’ll have to know how much power your head unit or external amp puts out. Sensitivity refers to how much power the speakers require in order to put out a given volume level, and speakers with higher sensitivity require less power. If you’re working with an anemic factory stereo, then you’ll want to find a Phoenix Gold speaker that has a higher sensitivity level. On the other hand, speakers that have a low level of sensitivity tend to work fine with high powered external amps.

Motorcycle Audio Systems

April 18, 2017 By admin

Motorcycle Audio Systems in LincroftMost motorcycle audio systems that come standard don’t produce the quality sound that you may desire. The good news is that you can upgrade it the combination of modern technology, great clarity and all the volume you will ever need. There is a three tier approach to improving the motorcycle audio systems that many experts recommend. Here are three steps to better-sounding motorcycle audio systems.

Upgrading Motorcycle Audio Systems

  • Speakers. Speakers are the weakest link in a motorcycle. Have you noticed when you turn up the music, it sounds hollow and tinny? That is the fault of the speakers. You can replace your existing speakers with high-performance models that will dramatically increase the clarity. On many bikes you can increase the size of the speakers, giving you more output. Adding more speakers is another way to improve the sound quality and output of motorcycle audio systems. Many bikes only come with one pair of speakers. You can have a professional install additional speakers to give your stereo system the capability for much greater output.
  • Power. Now that you have better-sounding speakers, you need power. When riding up the road at speed in a motorcycle, there’s lots of road noise, so motorcycle audio systems have to play louder than to overcome that noise. There are many models of amplifiers designed to work with a bike’s smaller electrical system and fit into tight spaces, all while giving the volume you have always wanted.
  • Radio. A replacement radio is a popular option if you have a bike with some age to it. You can enhance your bike with a new stereo system in your fairing, outfitted with Bluetooth to stream the music from your smartphone, as well as USB ports to play your external media and charge your portable devices.

Car Stereo Systems – How to Choose

March 24, 2017 By admin

When it comes to car stereo systems, they have a huge range of capabilities and prices. Features can include everything from GPS systems to wireless technology that allows the car stereo to be used as a conduit for hands-free cell phone communication. The most important thing to take into consideration when choosing a car stereo system is whether the unit will fit in your car’s dashboard. You should also make sure the stereo’s sound output is compatible with your car otherwise you can risk damaging your speakers. Here are some tips to help you pick out the right car stereo systems.

Tips for Choosing Car Stereo Systems

  • Car Stereo Systems near Atlantic Highlands | CNJ Car Audio SystemsDetermine the subset of stereos that your car can accommodate. Dashboard sizes vary and so do the dimensions of car stereo systems.  Car audio systems that provide GPS technology have video screens used to display maps, making them larger than a car stereo system designed to play only CDs. Most electronics vendors that sell car stereos have online tools that allow you to determine whether the stereo will fit the car. On top of that, most auto electronics stores have knowledgeable staff that can tell you whether your car and stereo can be linked. Some stores have installation departments that will break down the cost of a car stereo based on the retail price of the unit and the difficulty of the installation.
  • Decide what your car stereo needs to do. Features of car stereo systems have evolved from the simple marriage of two components: an AM/FM radio and a removable media player, such as an audio cassette deck or CD player. Some car stereo systems allow you to plug in your own music devices, such as MP3 players, or even USB drives that contain both music and other sundry computer files. Some car stereo systems can receive signals from subscription-based satellite radio or are able to broadcast high definition radio stations. Many car audio players have removable face plates that provide a measure of security when you leave your vehicle unattended.
  • Figure out your desired wattage output. Wattage directly correlates with loudness: more watts equals more noise. After you select a car stereo unit, you should pick a speaker system that will not be damaged by your stereo’s audio output.

Phoenix Gold Amps – Shopping Tips

June 28, 2016 By admin

Phoenix Gold amps are a popular brand of car amplifiers. The amp is what powers the sound of a vehicle’s sound system. Sometimes, shopping for Phoenix Gold amps can be a bit overwhelming. There are many models, power levels, other features available, so knowing some basics about Phoenix Gold amps is important. If you’re looking to invest in the superior quality of a Phoenix Gold amp, there are a few different factors to pay close attention to.

Factors When Shopping for Phoenix Gold Amps

Phoenix Gold Amps in Monmouth County

  1. Different Numbers of Channels? Phoenix Gold amps are available in a number of different configurations, and the right number of channels will depend on how many speakers you have in your sound system. In general, you’ll need one channel for each speaker that you want to amplify. If you’re adding a subwoofer to an existing system, then a single channel car amplifier will get the job done just fine. There are even mono Phoenix Gold amps with a “class D” rating that are specifically designed to use less power and put off less heat when amplifying subwoofers. Units that have two, four, or six channels are more versatile. A 2 channel amp can be used to power two woofers, two coaxial speakers, or you can bridge it to run a single sub. If you just want to add a subwoofer and provide more power to your rear full range speakers, then a 4-channel amp will probably do the job. In that case, you can run each rear full range speaker off its own channel and then bridge the other two to power the sub. On the other hand, you could power all four coaxial speakers off the same amp and then install a separate mono amp for the subwoofer. Component systems can be more complicated, and you may end up needing more than one amplifier, external crossovers, and other components.
  2. Phoenix Gold Amplifier Power – If you want to get the best sound out of your car stereo, it’s vital that you don’t under power your speakers. That’s why a lot of people pick out speakers first and then find an amp that has enough juice to power them. If you’re just working with your factory speakers, you’ll still want to find the RMS value and then choose an amp that’s capable of putting out out at least 75 to 150 percent of that number. Power is also a concern if you’re looking to run a sub off the same amp that you’re using to drive your speakers. Bridging two channels of a multi-channel amp may provide enough power to run a sub, but it isn’t ideal in every situation. If the amp can’t match your specific subwoofer’s power needs, then you’re better off looking for a separate mono amplifier that is capable of doing the job right.
  3. Head Unit and Amplifier Compatibility – If you’re building a car audio system from the ground up, then there’s no question about it: buy a head unit that has preamp outputs and an amplifier that has line level inputs. By providing an unamplified signal to the amp, you’ll end up with the clearest sound possible. Most factory head units don’t have preamp outputs. If you’re working with an existing head unit that falls into that category, then you’ll need to look for an amp that has speaker level inputs. This will still result in better sound than you’d get without the external amp, and it will save you from having to mess around with additional wiring or adapters.

  • Choosing a Speaker: There are very many models of JL Audio car speakers to choose from and two main types of car speakers. One of the types available is coaxial speakers. These are also known as full range speakers and they contain the tweeter on the woofer. The other type is component speakers. The tweeter and woofer in these ones are separate. Car audio speakers come in different sizes. These are the 6×5 and 6×9 sizes. The 6×5 speakers are normally installed in the front car doors. On the other hand, the 6×9 car speakers are normally installed in the rear deck of the car. As you pick some speakers for your car audio system, remember to refer to the budget which you drew up. It will help you to pick speakers which are affordable yet give you clear, deep and sharp sound even at high volumes. Tips On Shopping for Car Amplifiers

April 13, 2016 By admin

Car amplifiers are what power the sound of a vehicle’s sound system. They can sometimes get a little confusing when you are on the market for one. There are many different brands, models, power levels, other features available, so knowing some basics about car amplifiers is important. If you’re looking to upgrade an existing car amplifier or install a brand new one, there are a few different factors to pay close attention to.

Important Factors When Shopping for Car Amplifiers

Marlboro Car Amplifiers | Monmouth County Car Audio

  1. The Right Number of Channels? Car amplifiers are available in a number of different configurations, and the right number of channels will depend on how many speakers you have in your sound system. In general, you’ll need one channel for each speaker that you want to amplify. If you’re adding a subwoofer to an existing system, then a single channel car amplifier will get the job done just fine. There are even mono car amplifiers with a “class D” rating that are specifically designed to use less power and put off less heat when amplifying subwoofers.
  2. Car Amplifier Power – If you want to get the best sound out of your car stereo, it’s vital that you don’t under power your speakers.

Basic Tips When Shopping for Car Speakers

April 5, 2016 By admin

Are you interested in upgrading your car speakers, but have no knowledge of even the basics? There are thousands of different makes and models out there, which can make finding the best ones for you a pretty difficult task. To help, here are some basic things to factor in when commencing your journey to obtaining some rockin’ new car speakers!

Factors When Shopping for Car Speakers

  • The Types of Speakers

There are two main categories of car speakers to select from. Getting the one that best fits your needs could save money and provide quality sound you are looking for:

  1. Component – Component speaker systems are designed to deliver the best possible quality of sound. Their components are separated so that they can be moved around within the vehicle. These are higher priced and are more suited for those looking for an advanced car speaker system.
  2. Full-Range – These are an all-in-one system. They are the simplest to install, generally less money, and can produce any range of sounds. These car speakers are best suited for those who are simply looking to replace their factory car speakers. A nice set will produce quality sound, but are not as customizable as component speaker systems.
  • Sound Quality of the Car Speakers

The point of speaker systems is to produce sounds. When doing research, there are a few things that buyers can look for to determine the quality of sound the speakers will produce. The first thing to check on is the frequency range. Stereo systems have certain frequency ranges. The wider the range is, the more sounds the speakers are capable of reproducing. Usually the top frequency that car speakers will have is 20,000 hertz, and the lowest is 10 hertz. Having the entire range in order to get good sound quality isn’t necessary.

You also should consider the sensitivity rating. The sensitivity does not necessarily affect the sound directly, however, it controls how much sounds the speakers can create using the power supplied to them. If a vehicle has a low-powered stereo, then the best choice is to get a system with a high sensitivity rating. If the stereo is high-powered, then the speaker system can have a lower sensitivity rating.

  • Car Speaker Materials

The materials that the speaker components are made from have a significant effect on the sound quality as well as the lifespan of the system parts:

  1. Treble Speaker – Usually made with soft materials such as textile blends, silk, or polyurethane. The soft materials help produce a warm sound. However, harder materials such as metal, ceramics, or graphite will make the sound pop with higher tones.
  2. Surround Materials – The surround is the casing around the woofer. It has to withstand heat and humidity. The best performing material is rubber, but foam and cloth surrounds are less expensive and still work well.
  3. Subwoofer – To produce the bass sounds, the subwoofer needs to be built with a lightweight, stiff material. Polypropylene is a popular material because it produces accurate bass sounds. Other materials may be used as well such as woven fabrics.

  • Extra Car Speaker Features

Car speakers can come with some additional features that some vehicle owners may be interested in to enhance their audio experience.

  1. Detachable Treble Speakers – These can be installed in full-range or component car speaker systems. They can come in handy when it comes time to switch vehicles because you wont have to buy new ones.
  2. External Crossovers – These are seen in some full-range systems. The feature separates the frequencies that are sent to the subwoofer and the treble so that they don’t try to produce the frequencies that they can’t. The result is a cleaner, better sound quality.
  3. Pivoting Treble Speakers – These car speakers are good for when they have to be installed in an awkward place like low in the door. The pivoting car speakers can be aimed towards the listener’s direction.
  • Cost of Speaker Systems

The price of car speakers has a huge range. Simple replacement car speakers can be very affordable, while the high-tech, high-performance systems can cost as much as a used vehicle or even more! You should determine your budget before beginning to shop around. That way, you’ll be able to find the car speakers with the best capabilities within that price range.

  • Car Values

Unfortunately, car speaker systems will not raise the value by much, so your purchase should be solely for your own enjoyment. Pretty much the only instance where the value may go up is in an older vehicle. However, the speakers are more likely to make the car more desirable if you decide to sell it. Manufacturers have lately been producing vehicles that come stock with better car speakers.

How to Pick Out Your Ideal Car Subwoofer

March 24, 2016 By admin

There’s nothing like bumping some heavy bass through your new car audio system. The rumble you feel in your stomach is almost magical! Today, there are so many different car subwoofers out there as well as subwoofer installation services. With so many options out there, how can one who is new to the car subwoofer life go about choosing the one that fits them best? Here are some basics on car subwoofers as well as car subwoofer installation.

Choosing the Ideal Car Subwoofer

  • What is Your Car Like?

You need to have an idea of what vehicle your car subwoofer/driver will be into. The size of the car and amount of space will directly affect the size and/or amount speakers you can install. Even if you don’t have a car at the moment, planning for the one you will have is a smart idea.

  • Measurements?

Once you’ve decided what vehicle your car subwoofer is going into, you can just go out and buy a speaker if you really want to. However, it’s best to do some research first, whether it be simply to talking to some friends in the know, or going to a local car audio installation company and getting someone with experience to voice their opinion. You could also simply get on the internet and get some info on your car, especially if you don’t physically have it yet. Some common measurements you’ll come across are: rear width, rear track, and total trunk capacity. Having these measurements can help you to calculate the dimensions of the trunk (if that’s where you are putting your car subwoofer), which will better help determine what drivers to purchase. The depth and width, while still necessary, aren’t as essential as the height of the trunk. This measurement becomes less important to get right if you’re looking at getting smaller drivers, such as an 8″ driver, or a 10″ driver.

  • Car Subwoofer Enclosure Types

Next is choosing which type of enclosure you will use to house your speaker. There are two common types:

  1. Sealed: A completely airtight enclosure, very basic in design, good speaker performance, improved bass response.
  2. Ported/Vented: Similar to a sealed type, but with a vent/port installed, used to emphasize a particular frequency, improved reproduction of low bass frequencies, low distortion

How you want your car subwoofer to perform will mostly likely decide for you which type of enclosure you will choose.

  • Buying the Car Subwoofer

Once you’ve gotten all the information about your car and what enclosure you’re going to use, you can go out and purchase your car subwoofer. When you first get your eyes on a speaker of interest, you’re immediately going to see a few things that may be confusing for those who aren’t subwoofer connoisseurs:

  1. Power Handling (Watts RMS and Max) – This is basically stating how much power your subwoofer can handle before it starts damaging itself. Generally, the higher the power, the better it can handle bass when your system is turned up to its loudest. The power rating measurement that you’re looking for is the Watts RMS rating. This shows exactly how much power your subwoofer should take to make satisfactory (and often amazing) bass. If you can’t find an RMS rating, but a Max power rating is evident, generally you can simply divide this amount by two to get an idea of the WRMS rating for the particular speaker.
  2. Size of the subwoofer (8″, 10″, 12″, 15″) – Fairly self-explanatory, it’s just the size of the driver. The most popular ones seem to be the 12″ type, because they have a decent cone size without being massive.
  3. Amount of voice coils (SVC or DVC) – The amount of voice coils can help decide which type of amplifier to purchase. Basically, the amount of voice coils is the amount of inputs to your speaker. If your subwoofer has only one voice coil (Single Voice Coil, or SVC), it has one input for you to wire the sub to the amp. If your subwoofer has two Voice coils (Dual Voice Coil, or DVC), it has two inputs for you to wire the sub to the amp. People will generally try to get a DVC sub for multi-sub projects, because it gives them more options when they come to wiring their subs to their amp. But, if you’re only going to be using one subwoofer, you should show more interest in an SVC subwoofer. It doesn’t have any significant advantages over a DVC sub, while still maintaining comparable performance attributes. They also make the subwoofer installation process easier if you’re confident enough to try doing the whole thing yourself.
  • Subwoofer Installation Process

Probably the easiest step in the process of upgrading a car audio system is installing it. The subwoofer installation will more often be done by a professional auto electrician, meaning it will work first time! However, it can also be the hardest step if you do it yourself. This is why it is recommended to go to a car audio installation shop to get it done right, unless you have a lot of prior experience.

Recall your measurements:

  1. Rear Width – Simply the width of the car at the rear
  2. Rear Track – Track is a little trickier though. Track is commonly referred to as the distance from the center of one tire to the center of the tire on the opposite side. If you’ve ever been driving in rural areas with lots of sand, or you’ve driven through mud, you will have seen an excellent example of how track looks.
  3. Trunk Capacity – It’s essentially how water/air your trunk could hold if you filled it up. The measurements to calculate this are: Width of Trunk x Length of trunk x Height of Trunk, or LxWxH. It is best to measure the height of the trunk against the back seat, because that’s normally where the subwoofer and enclosure will be placed.
